FAQs

Frequently asked questions on gardens, paving, decking, planting everything garden related.

We can cater for all areas such as Newport, Edgmond, Telford, Shrewsbury, Tibberton in Shropshire.

1. Which areas do you cover?

Plant and Deck are happy to quote for domestic work in the counties of Shropshire and Staffordshire.

2. Do you have insurance?

We have full and comprehensive Public Liability Insurance which protects you as our customer and our workers on your property.

Will it cost more than the quotation?

You will receive a formal written quotation and unless there are changes made by you this is what you will pay. A quotation is not an estimate, you will not have to pay more.

Will I be pleased with my garden?

We strive to give customer satisfaction to a very high standard. From the first meeting we want to be working with you to create the garden you always dreamed about at an affordable price.

Will you remove the rubbish?

Yes all rubbish connected with the project will be removed

My project is scheduled for 5 days but it is going to take longer. Why?

We try very hard to make sure that we quote an accurate timescale for your project. However, some things are beyond our control. In the UK, the weather is our number one reason for delays. Turf, patios, brickwork, planting and decking projects don't go well in heavy rain. Sometimes suppliers have problems delivering materials at the right time. Things sometimes happen. Although, most of the time things go according to plan. We don't ask for anymore money when projects take longer than quoted - and because we incur the financial penalty - you can be sure that we take every measure possible to ensure that this does not happen very often. Similarly, sometimes the project goes faster than we anticipated. We don't charge any extra for that either!

Do i need to be at home when the work is being done?

Not necessarily but access to water and electric may be required at certain times.

Why do you need to know my budget? Will you charge me more if you think I have more money?

No. This is completely against our ethos. We will always ask you what amount of money you are prepared to spend on the project. We can then give you a better idea of what we can - and what we can't achieve - for that amount of money. Materials vary in quality and price. Larger projects take more time and consequentially, cost more to build than smaller projects. We always charge the same regardless of your financial status.

How long do you guarantee your work for?

You will of course have guarantees on all the materials used for your landscaping project. Most decking is guaranteed for 15 years for example. We guarantee all our workmanship for 6 months on landscape gardening projects. That means if we are at fault, we'll fix, repair or replace anything. Don't worry, this doesn't happen very often! But if it does, we'll make sure we put it right. We're keen to keep you happy - 30% of our work comes from recommendations.

Do you work weekends?

In the summer when we are busiest, we usually work 6 days per week. But it is not a problem if this is inconvenient for you. Sometimes it's nice to have a Saturday off!

What time do you start?

Between 8.30 and 9.30 in a morning to allow time for collection of tools or materials from merchants.

I'm happy to go ahead with the quote. What is the next step?

Once you are happy with the design and details of the project, we will ask you for a deposit. The deposit is used to purchase the materials for your project. These are your materials and that's why we ask you to pay for them! This is usually 50% of the cost of the project. We accept payments by cheque or bank transfer. We then schedule you with a mutually acceptable start date for the project.
