These are solid and permanent and are more expensive to install than a fence, but they can contribute a lot of style to your garden. Old red bricks walls suggest antiquity, whereas pale bricks are more modern. Glass bricks look very contemporary but are mainly used for designer features within your garden rather than for the boundary walls.
Concrete block walls can be rendered and painted to achieve a sleek and contemporary look. The screen blocks of the 60s and 70s can be screened with climbers if you don't wish to replace them and they are still sturdy.
Dry stone walls can also be built out of natural stone; also reconstituted stone blocks can be glued together, which can be ideal for dwarf walls around raised beds.
